Programs
TwosThe twos are on the move! Socialization, communication, and potty training are big focuses in our two’s programs. A strong focus on process art learning to increase imagination is integrated in weekly lesson plans. The two’s class curriculum consists of the following five areas.
Social-Emotional Development
Learning to identify feelings in themselves and peers, rules of play, and how to communicate wants and needs with peers and caregivers.
Language Development & Socialization
Expanding their vocabulary, developing receptive and expressive language. Language and vocabulary grow at a rapid pace during the twos but knowing how to use that language is a new skill. Teachers work with the students on asking for help, taking turns, telling our friends how we feel and so on. As they work on their growing communication, we expand their vocabulary with new words and expressions.
Cognitive Development
Following multi-step directions, recognizing basic shapes, colors, and rote counting. Math skills such as sorting and visual discrimination.
Gross/Fine Motor Development
The foundation to developing fine motor skills is gross motor. By strengthening our arms through hands on play and games, we give our hands the strength they need to begin developing proper pincer grasp and hold writing utensils which is precursor to writing.
Potty Training
Potty training is not a one size fits all. Every child is different and will go through this experience in their own unique way. Our job is to facilitate this by providing the skills needed to fully potty train.
