Infant care

The Chanen Preschool infant program effectively provides a safe, loving and stimulating environment where babies can grow and develop at their own rate.

Rosie’s Nest at Chanen Preschool

Our brand-new Infant Center creates a fresh, warm, self-contained environment designed with the unique needs of infants, six weeks to crawling.

  • All materials and furniture are Greengard gold-certified and of the highest quality available.
  • The design, layout, and paint colors have been uniquely chosen to create a calming and nurturing atmosphere for our children.
  • A comfortable and private lactation room will be available for all parents.

Infant Center

Our infant program is divided into two classrooms. The younger infants range from 6-weeks old to crawling, while the older infants range from crawling until they are 1-year old and walking. Our infant team is not only focusing on the infants, but on providing parent support with infant education and childcare resources.

Young Infants
6-weeks to Crawling

The young infants have every need met in a loving and nourishing environment. Our infant specialist maintains your child’s schedule while bonding and providing emotional attachment along with meeting their developmental needs such as tummy time, rolling over, reaching and grasping toys. Every aspect of their day is documented in a Daily Report including naps, feedings, diapering and tummy time.

Crawling to 1-year old

Once your infant is crawling, they move up to our Older Infant classroom where they can continue to focus on gross motor development such as pulling to stand, crawling over different terrains, self-feeding and eventually walking independently. So much development happens in our Older Infant program. They are exploring their environment in a whole new and engaging way. Art, Music and Sensory become weekly activities. They are trying new foods, gaining self-feeding skills and so much more. Our Older Infant teachers help you and your child navigate through the process of preparing for the Ones program.

Consistency

Each baby follows their own (or parent-requested) schedule of eating, sleeping, and playing in the early months. The social and emotional development of each infant is of primary importance. When it becomes developmentally appropriate, independence is encouraged and soon infants are feeding themselves at the table, walking and advancing in their play.

Personal Care

The Infant Teachers specialize in personal, one-on-one feedings, tummy time, meeting developmental milestones such as rolling over, reaching for toys, sitting and lots of babbling! Staff working with older infants will also continue to challenge babies to reach new milestones. Introducing many new sensory activities, staff encourage babies to have as many hands-on experiences as possible. Through music, art, movement, and messy play, your baby will be exposed to many exciting language and sensory experiences. In both classrooms, teachers will support parents on this new journey of parenthood. They will be a wonderful sounding board and offer support and suggestions as babies are ready to try new foods, learn to use a sippy cup and change their sleeping patterns.

“We are very fortunate to be part of the Chanen family. My kids joined this year and were welcomed with loving arms from day one. The staff is very kind, attentive and accommodating, and my kids feel right at home. Special thanks to the frog and penguin class teachers. You Rock!”

Meital Amrami / Parent

Our younger two children currently attend Chanen preschool but amongst our children, we have been there for over 6 years at this point. We have had a great experience with staff and our oldest was well prepared for kindergarten. As a Jewish family, we have really appreciated the Judaism our children have brought home from Chanen. We look forward to another year.
